Solar Eclipse

The moon is a symbol of the subconscious – supporting intuitive flow. Imagine a moonbeam illuminating a patch of flowers in a clearing. It’s so easy in this setting to picture something magical, spiritual, sacred happening.

Then, the sun shines forward - all action, movement and warmth. On those perfect weather days, the sun can be like a kiss on our skin with the feel of a promise. Imagine the sun rising and shining on a field of wheat in the early morning. Just take a moment to envision a scenario in which you move across a path in this field. You can feel the wheat brushing against your legs and a sense of exuberance as you laugh and run ahead with your heart open to possibilities.

And the world offers the balance of these energies of the sun and moon.

On April 8, 2024, we will experience a celestial event - a total solar eclipse in sections of the United States with a new super moon. Four planets (Venus, Mars, Saturn and Neptune) will be visible in the sky and a comet is passing by. Definitely a once-in-a-lifetime line-up. Recognizing this energetic dynamic, why not look at the eclipse as a celestial invitation to meditate on/journal about/reflect on growth and transformation?

In the picture with this blog, I’m not pregaming for the eclipse. In October of 2023, I enjoyed a retreat with friends to a small cabin in the mountains of Colorado. On a cold Colorado morning, I sat on a blanket with snacks and watched that partial, solar eclipse. And I just got out of my head, sat and observed the eclipse with respect for the beauty and grandness of the moment.

Right now, in our current world, the total eclipse won’t cure all of the chaos. It is a personal choice for you or me to embrace the moment and go deep in what direction we want to take and feel into our intuition, our connection with the universe.

Here is an idea - why not take a little bit of a “soul vacation?” Just imagine yourself in a place of freedom and possibility. You choose where you want to go.

And a rare opportunity is arising to soak in so many transformational energies. The moon moving across the sun… In the words of the great Emily Dickinson:

The moon was but a chin of gold

     A night or two ago,

And now she turns her perfect face

     Upon the world below.

We aren’t meant to be static. The universe is not static. So, I’m going to take a moment on April 8th to accept the invitation of the solar eclipse.
